TALL Tatami Platform Bed - Dark Walnut

I placed an order around the end of December 2025 and received my order to my home in March! It was sooner than I expected since it was expected to be at least 14 weeks. I got the Tall king tatami platform bed with the Tatami mats. So it came in 5 boxes (3 for bed frame which is one box for the rails, one box for the legs, one box for the bed slats) and 2 for the tatami mats). The weight of the boxes range from 29 lbs to 70s. So I was able to actually just move them up to our third floor all by myself. I also was able to assemble everything myself as well since it was easy and it had instructions manual. The delivery person was very careful to move the boxes and was very nice. We had a great time talking and he said since he helps deliver, he gets to choose an TatamiRoom product for free and also chose what we got as a testimony to how good this product is. The packaging was amazing. I’ve never seen a more careful packaging and wrapping, especially for the bed frame rails. Because of this, I did not see a single bump or scratch on the buttery smooth surface of the beautiful rails. I also loved the bed slats as it is real wood and actually supports the weight for our tatami mats and people. Also beautiful wood. I enjoyed the customer service as they were quick and reliable whenever I emailed them. This means a lot to us knowing that at any time we can have good support. Finally when they had the product in stock, they would ask us again to confirm if we still want it. Only after we confirmed, then they charged our card. I love this honesty and communication! My wife and I have enjoyed all aspects of this tatami bed set up with the tatami mats. And we also added a two inch Latex topper. We generally enjoy sleeping on firm bed since our last mattress got soft and sunk. So that is why we got the tatami mats. We also like a little softness on the top, so that is what the topper was for to mimic a pillow top feeling. We ultimately chose this over Thuma due to the glowing reviews of TatamiRoom and I am so glad that we committed to this. Everything was great quality, the bed is sturdy and doesn’t creak. I thought it was easy to assemble. And we’ve been having a wonderful time sleeping! I’m sure this will last us many years and I don’t have to worry about sinking mattresses. After researching several brands and sellers we narrowed our bed frame choices down to those from Tatamiroom and Thuma. Though Thuma's short delivery time was tempting, Tatami's price (Thuma was $1K higher for a similar frame) and reviews (product and customer service) were unbeatable. Also, we were not in any rush and decided to live with the 15 weeks lead time. The frame is worth the wait! Product: We bought the King bed which is as described here and looks as close to the pictures on the site. Easy to move and assemble (about an hour overall) once we separated the individual pieces that were packed together. Simple one page instructions in clear to understand steps. No additional tools required, other the Allen key that comes with the hardware. The frame is of great quality and seems very sturdy. We also ordered the Magari Platform Headboard - Dark Walnut to go with the bed. Perfect match. Highly recommend both products. Packaging and shipping: We received 4 separate boxes - 3 for the bed frame and one for the headboard. Everything arrived intact and on time (after the 15 week wait, of-course) without additional delays or issues. We knew about the lengthy wait time when we placed the order and Tatamiroom kept us updated throughout. Our card was charged only after we confirmed that we still wanted the bed. This was just before shipping to our local address by UPS and not at the time of placing the order. However, we still had to provide card information when ordering. Customer Service: Tatmiroom's customer service is as great as their product. They communicated if and when necessary to keep us informed. They responded to emails and/ or phone calls every time. Order to delivery timeline was spot on.

We loved the first one so much that when we got a bigger mattress, we decided to get the same frame in the next size and walnut color. As expected, it's absolutely beautiful.

I wanted good quality but more importantly good customer service. A company can have great products but if the customer service is bad, I’m not willing to spend a large sum. Tatami has both. I was always able to directly speak to tatami employees and they made everything seamless as possible. When I had to change the credit card information, they had no issue and made sure to call me to get that information before charging the cost. Any time I wanted an update on what point my order was in the process, they were able to provide it. Bed frame delivered safely and so easy to assemble. Looks how I wanted. Great workmanship, great employees.

Agree with basically everything positive stated in other reviews - beautiful bed, packaged well for shipping, sturdy and well made, easy to assemble, and great customer service. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for this style of bed - if you're willing and able to wait since it did take several months to receive after ordering. I love it!

I spent a lot of time deliberating between Thuma, Nectar and Tatami Room's platform bed and ended up going with Tatami Room because it felt like the right balance of quality and customer service. Around the same price point as the Thuma bed but without the sexy marketing and negative Reddit threads about how bad the customer service is. It took more than 15 weeks to arrive but got here in pristine condition and was super simple to set up. I'm super happy with it so far. I just wish the dark walnut was just a slightly lighter/warmer shade, but I knew what I was ordering and it's just like pictured.

Well packaged, easy assembly. Worth the wait. Looks great, doesn't creak. Highly recommended. Would absolutely purchase again and recommend to others.

Overpacked, which is great. Everything arrived in pristine condition. I was very concerned about this but the packing exceeded expectations. The King size frame fit together perfectly. No issues at all. Frame is very solid and heavy duty. No squeaking at all so far. Very happy with this purchase.

I ordered the full size option. There is a beam running down the middle that has to get attached with barrel nuts and bolts. It took me an hour just to get the bolts through the barrel nuts. It took about 2 additional hours for unboxing, unwrapping, finding all the loose dowels (the bag of hardware burst in transit; I never did find one of the end caps), sanding down the dowels because they were too large for the holes, trying to force poorly-fitted joins together, and peering at the poor-resolution instruction sheet. The instruction sheet is so illegible that I suggest just figuring out by looking at the actual pieces. Also, you need the right size screwdriver; I tried a bunch of different screwdrivers on the barrel nuts and it was hard to get one that actually worked. Ideally you'd have a magnetic one that has *just* the right size Phillips head. However, the bed is very good quality and seems very sturdy. It is also very nice looking. Overall, I'd recommend this product, but the company should provide a more legible diagram for the hardware where you can actually read the letter codes and maybe even suggest a specific screwdriver.
