Magari Platform Headboard - Dark Walnut

Absolutely beautiful headboard. If you want more headboard to show you might want to get the taller one. I have the tall platform bed with the headboard. With tatami mats on the bed I added a 3 inch Dunlap latex memory foam layer which has holes throughout it. This allows it to breathe. I placed a cotton fitted sheet underneath the memory foam. Then a 4 inch shikifuton with a cover I made. Cotton sheets and a kafefuton with cover on top. I then placed buckwheat pillows on my bad. With everything is in place you can’t see a lot of the headboard, maybe 8” above pillows 2 deep horizontal and upright 1 or 2” view of the headboard. I turn my Shikifuton once a week. I definitely would buy the headboard with the bed and you need two people. I am 63 and put it together myself but everything is very heavy. I’m impressed how well this bed is made. Don’t do like I did and buy the bed put it all together and then come and add the headboard later. That means I had to take a lot of the bed apart including lifting to tatami mats that are 60 pounds plus each. I can do it but I suggest you get it all together at once. The shikifuton and kafefuton I bought somewhere else. I found I really needed the 3 inch memory foam which I got originally from Amazon. Using a 4 inch shikifuton directly on Tatami mats was just too hard. So if you want to see the headboard after pillows are added definitely get a taller headboard but this one has worked fine and meets my budget. The Tatami room was awesome whenever I had questions and called them. The delivery was excellent and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Happy with the product. It's a bit lower than expected. My existing mattress is somewhat tall, so it doesn't leave much of the headboard showing. May have to eventually get a new mattress. Beautiful piece of wood!

Package came on time and we'll packaged. I'm pretty happy I bought the headboard, it gave the bed more character. Also, I bought this with the full bed frame. Coronavirus period gave me the time to reevaluate my room and I finally decided that it's time to upgrade my bed!

We've had our tatami platform bed for about.5 years, and no plans to change, so I finally bought the headboard. It totally finishes the look, so elegant - my almost-50 year old self and husband finally feel like grown ups! It was challenging to fit the headboard piece into the existing bedfram - we put some wax onto the frame, which may have helped it slide together, as it did finally come together. Wish I'd waxed it ahead of time! It is definitely solid and tight. I am looking forward to sitting up in bed and reading sometime soon, supported by our new headboard!

Purchased this headboard after having used the tatami bed for many years (over a decade). Not sure why I waited so long but it really transforms the bed. It was very difficult to fit into the frame but that might be because my frame was so old. So of course, trying to shimmy headboard in...I heard that sickening crack of splitting wood. My poor frame that I had worked so hard to preserve split a bit...but not all the way through and given the interlocking structure, I think it should be fine. I guess the wood changed over the years from usage. So basically, moral of the story...if you want a finished looking bed...just bite the bullet and buy the bed and headboard together.
